The End?

Hello All!

Sorry I've been MIA for awhile! I've come to the realization that I need a break from blogging. I hope to pick it up again or give less frequent updates on my life, but currently my day time job along with my exercise classes and with all the organizations I'm involved in, plus trying to keep a sane social life, is really pulling me every crazy direction, and blogging is another time-eater that is really stressing me out. I think blogging should be a fun past time, but past times are few and far between at this time in my life! And when a "hobby" gets stressful, it's time to give it up!
So while I hope someday to be sharing food and fitness tips again, along with some fun pictures, right now is not the time!
I TRULY APPRECIATE everyone that ever read this blog! I really mean that and I hope one day you'll follow me again. This break might be for a month or a year, not sure yet!
Until then, keep sweating and getting creative with meals:) Have a great summer everyone!

I'm a Runner?!?!?

Hello Everybody!

I hope you are all enjoying this holy week! B and I are hosting our first holiday meal for family this Easter! It's a big deal for us! We get to use our China tableware that we got for our wedding that we STILL haven't used! Geesh! I bought a big ham and I'm also making cheesy potatoes (mmmmmm) and the rest of the family is bringing a side-easy peasy;) So I'm taking Friday off to make food, including my grandma's cinnamon rolls for a bake sale, and get ready for Easter!

A good recent eat:
Really delicious if you haven't tried it! It's like one of those instant strawberries 'n' cream oatmeal packets you had when you were a kid, but heartier and healthier!

Some big news in my world is I'm becoming a RUNNER! Ok, maybe I wouldn't go that far, but my friend Sarah, who has turned into a runner, has been bugging me to do a race with her. First off it was Warrior Dash, which is a pretty intimidating obstacle course race! It was going to be in Kansas City days after my Cozumel trip and I don't want to be training while trying to soak in some sun in Mexico! So that one was a "no!"

So next it was the KC Dirty Duo, which consists of a two-person team doing a six-mile running and biking course with fun obstacles on the way. That was early last week when she mentioned it to me. So I looked it up online and did some research-this is something I could do! It wasn't straight time running and the little obstacles along the way seemed fun! The last 40 yards you have to crawl through a mud pit with your partner! Who doesn't like mud? Oh, and did I mention there is beer, bands and food afterwards? Ya, that's my kind of race;)

So last week, I started the couch to 5K plan, but starting on week 4 since I'm not really on the "couch." So far, so good! I'm not saying I've found the runner's "high" everyone talks about, but it's "ok." My sister-in-law and Sarah asked me, "Isn't it amazing?!?!" Frankly? NO! I'm really not enjoying any of it, but it does give me satisfaction each time I finish my runs knowing that I've never been a runner, however I'm gettin' it done!

So yesterday I gave Sarah the official "yes" to joining the KC Dirty Duo! OMG! I think I'm crazy!!
Has anyone ever done a Dirty Duo or heard of them? What about a Warrior Dash?

So that's my big news, peeps! The race is the last weekend in June, which is just 3 weeks before my Mexico vacation, so it's something to aim for while getting more in shape for my bikini;) Plus, Sarah and I have so much fun together and I can't wait to sweat, get muddy and then have a congratulatory beer afterwards with her;)

What are your plans for Easter? Do you have any advice on hosting a large dinner party? What did you do for your first race? How did you train? Any advice?

Desserted Tip of the Day: Go meatless for one day a week. It saves on overall calories, money and your carbon footprint.

My Weekend Dreaming of Sun

Good Evening!

Here we are at the end of another weekend, looking "forward" to the week ahead of us, and reminiscing of the weekend behind us-or at least I am! I had a great, fun-filled weekend in Kansas and I hope you did, also!

Friday night was our April bunco night and I actually won a prize-$10! WOOP WOOP!

The winners of April Bunco: Me, Tonya, Brianne and Leanne

I look forward to bunco each month! It's a great excuse to get out with some girls, drink, eat and laugh! All of my favorite things;)

Amy, Pepper, Vanessa, Lisa, me and Leanne

After sleeping in Saturday (HEAVEN!) I got up and worked out and cleaned up around the house. B went out golfing in the morning and by the afternoon, he had golfed 18 holes and was ready for one more round! So I joined him and his friends in the last round and although I didn't do as well as last week, it was still a fun time with beautiful weather!

Our big exciting news is that we booked a vacation last night!!!!!

All-Inclusive to Cozumel, Mexico!

Yesterday in between cleaning and working out, I started to look for deals in Mexico. We ruled out Mexico right away because of the violence over there, but we couldn't get over how much cheaper it was then other destinations (there is probably a reason for that!). We know some other couples who had gone to Mexico recently or are going soon, and they had no problems, so we thought we would open up our search to Mexico. I found a GREAT deal to Cozumel and then we invited all of the couples over (4 of us) for a vacation booking party! We got it all booked and we're ready to go in July for an awesome friends vacation! We are going during B's 30th birthday weekend and also our friend's first year anniversary so it's great timing!
WE CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!

My upcoming week is kind of another killer with travelling for my job, so I'm gonna post as much as I can! Have a great week everybody!

What is the most exciting vacation you've ever been on? What is a destination you would love to visit for a vacation? What is one fun thing you did this weekend?

Just Belt It!

Good Evening Peeps!

I'm heading out to a banquet tonight, but I thought I would say "hi" since I haven't been posting the past couple of days. As always, I'm keeping WAY more busy than I should be-but hey, that's life!

Today I had an interesting outfit that I HOPE I pulled off! I bought a thick turquoise stretchy belt in the fall and basically bought it for one outfit that I don't wear too often, but I LOVE the belt! So I threw this together:

Orange, fitted tee with a fitted jean suit jacket over, cinched with my turquoise belt! I would have chosen different pants in a perfect world-but these had to do! So what do you think, did I pull it off? I love the idea of cinching jackets with belts, but I've never tried-just admired from afar....

I haven't posted a sweaty pic in awhile, so here you go!

After my Zumba class;)

I've also been really enjoying my juicer I bought a couple weeks ago. It's almost sooo much of a pain to clean it each time that it deters me from making some juice, but just almost;)

What's the difference between these two juices:

??????

The top one was yummy, and the bottom was DISGUSTING!!!! How can that be? They both looks the same! I did some experimenting and here are the ingredients:

GOOD VEGGIE JUICE
1 tomato
1/2 cucumber
1/2 jalapeno

BAD VEGGIE JUICE
2 stalks of celery
1/2 lemon
handful of baby carrots
BLECH!

I really had to choke down the bad one, but it's veggie nutrition didn't go to waste!!! Unfortunately, I made the bad one before I made the good one, so I was really wondering if any veggie juice would be good! Luckily, I like tomato juice, and with a little bit of cucumber for a fresh, crisp taste, and a bit of spiciness from the jalapeno is a winning combo!!

I'm out, kids! Sorry I have to make this short, but I'm posting between appointments-you know how it goes;)

Have you made a smoothie, juice, recipe that sounded great but came out awful?? Did you still eat it?
What is a fun article of clothing you own but have troubles pairing it with outfits?

Would You Like a Cookie?

Good Evening Bloggies!

Another Monday down in the books-thank goodness! I feel good about today: I've kept my eating in check, I got a decent workout in, and I helped my sister-in-law and her boyfriend move into their new house!

Today I have a couple of yummy healthy food reviews for you that you will LOOOVVEEE!

First up: Sensible Portions Veggie Chips.

These are all-natural potato chips that just melt in your mouth-so good! They have tomato and spinach flavoring with a touch of sea salt and 30% less fat that regular potato chips! Plus, look at the serving size!

That's a nice helping! I really enjoyed these and plan on getting more from their extensive line! I bought these at Wal-Mart.

The next review I'm really excited about: Goji Gourmet Cookies!

I bought a sampler pack of these on a whim, hoping they were good! They was a special deal going on at Carrots N Cake and I love cookies, especially if they have health benefits! And boy do they! Goji Gourmet cookies tote the following:
-No Preservatives
-All-Natural
-High in Antioxidants
-Low Calorie (50 calories for a 2-cookie portion)
-Handmade
-Packed with "Superfoods"
-Energizing

I received four different kinds, and just for you all, I tried all four;) Almond Oat is hearty and sweet with the right amount of nuttiness. Ginger Walnut is very gingery so if you don't like that flavor I would steer away! This was probably my least favorite, but still good! Cherry Cacao was definitely my favorite! The only chocolate cookie, it has rich and plump cherries throughout-really good! And lastly is good ole' Chocolate Chip! Of course those are good-you can't go wrong there!

These cookies are really small, a tiny bit bigger than a quarter. But it's rich taste and healthy ingredients really make up for it! You can have 4 cookies for 200 calories and definitely satisfy your sweet tooth! They are chewy, soft and delicious-like your grandma made them for you!

I'm very excited to have these as a sweet, healthy treat after dinner or as a snack! I would HIGHLY recommend these! I believe I'll always have a bag in my pantry from now on-I love them that much!

Have you found any good food finds lately? What do eat to satisfy a sweet tooth and stay within healthy eating guidelines? What's your favorite snacky chip that won't unhinge your diet?

A Weekend Recap

Hola!!

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I spent mine dining with the in-laws, working at a Farm, Home & Garden Show, golfing, going to an adult prom, and nursing a hangover;) Today has been quite the wasted day, but it just goes to show you how much fun prom was for me last night!

Saturday morning started with a delicious protein pancake for me and the hubs!

Chocolate Banana Protein Pancake
As adapted from Biochemista

1.5 scoops of chocolate protein powder
1/3 cup of egg whites
1 T. diced nuts (I used walnuts)
1 T. applesauce, unsweetened
1/2 banana, mashed
pinch of baking powder and salt

Mix all together and put in heated and sprayed pan, flip, syrup-up, and EAT!

Although we had wind warnings in Kansas (and those are no joke! We're talking over 40 mph here!) we decided to spend a warm (up to high 80's!) Spring day golfing. So we packed up our clubs for the first time and headed to the course!

Although I was a decent golfer in high school, I haven't golfed for over a year (and that was the one and only time I golfed last year), but we pay a very expensive country club membership every year so I'm determined to go out more often and get my money's worth!

I shot a 51 and B shot a 47. Pretty good for not golfing in awhile! We did fudge SOME of the shots though;) But we won't tell you about those;)

Good times! We about blew away because of the wind though;)

Then last night we geared up for adult prom! Our local bar decided to host this event and B and I were all over it! We love getting dressed up and having "themed" parties! And what better excuse to wear your prom dress again after wearing it only once back in high school!

This is my junior year prom dress! I remember having a great time in it then, and it was just as fun now-except we could dance and have a beer in our hands!! I also wore my wedding tiara, so I designated myself queen of the prom;)!!!

B actually bought a tux in college, so he already owned one! He was the only guy there with a tux and he looked super handsome!

My friend Amy and I dancing!

We went with a group of friends and we all dressed up! It was a blast! I hope they host this again next year!

So today has been spent sleeping, watching Frasier reruns, and generally laying around. It's been a pretty big waste of a Sunday, but again, I'm not very good at "relaxing" so this has forced me to take a nice, quiet day which has been appreciated!

Tomorrow my sister-in-law moves into her new house so we're hoping to help move her.

Have you had an excuse to wear an old prom dress or bridesmaid dress? Do you know where they are?
Are you a golfer? And if so, how often do you golf during the summer?

I'll enter- however I'm not a big believer in vitamins and supplements (sorry- does that disqualify me?!) for a lot of reasons.... I think I'd be willing to look their products over and would most likely go for a protein powder. :)
And you know I follow you ! :)
Congratulations and Swanson Health Products will be getting you your $10 e-card right away! Please let me know what you use it on!

Thank you to all who entered and to Swanson Health Products! I really appreciate it! I'll hopefully be back tomorrow with a wonderful Saturday recap;)

Good night!

What's for Dinner?

Let me tell you what's for dinner, folks! Orange chicken with brown rice and Buffalo Chicken Shells! Yum and Yum! Here's the run down!

Orange Chicken with brown rice
Based from A Fit and Spicy Life

1 tsp chili powder
S&P
1 lb. chicken breast (4 servings), pounded thin (1/2 inch thick)
2/3 cup orange juice (I used my NEW juicer!)
4 T. sugar free maple syrup
2 tsp orange zest (2 oranges)
2 cups of cooked brown rice (use instant or a rice cooker)

Heat oil in pan over medium high heat. Sprinkle both sides of chicken with chili powder, S&P. Cook chicken utnil no longer pink (about 3 minutes per side). Remove chicken and set aside.

Put orange juice and syrup in pan and scrape chicken bits from the bottom with a wooden spoon. Stir for 1 minute and add orange zest and put chicken back in pan for a minute. Take chicken out. Stir orange juice mixture into rice and stir. Serve up rice and place chicken on top! Voila!

Super flavorful! Perfect flavors for summer!

What is better than buffalo chicken? No, seriously? Put it on pizza, tacos, sandwiches, on a stick-it's all PERFECT! Now, we're going to put it in JUMBO PASTA SHELLS! I die.....

I used blogger Sugar Crafter's recipe to a tee and it turned out great! Check out her recipe and make this delish meal TODAY! You won't regret it!

****

Confession time: I've been really slacking on my healthy eating lately. I mean I do it, but by the end of the day while I'm cooking my healthy meal, I'm stuffing my face with cheerios or pretzels which is really adding a lot of calories. I've been on a rampage lately! Since my March was so hectic, it's been really hard to get back into the swing of things: exercising, eating right, sleeping well, lowering alcohol consumption-they all have been a challenge!
So today, I'm publicly throwing down the gauntlet and recommitting myself to healthy eating and exercising! I'm still keeping in mind my big vaca goals, but I really need to be more committed. I'll let anything become a great excuse to go off my healthy ways: ANYTHING that interfers with my normal schedule actually! I need to be more flexible in life and learn to roll with what life brings (I'm not very good at this at the moment!).

So there it is! Here's to healthy ways, friends! Who's with me? Summer is approaching and we all need to look and feel our best to get the most out of the brililant weather that is coming up! You can start by making the above meals for your families;)

Remember tomorrow at 5 pm central time is the last day for my $10 e-card giveaway to Swanson Health Products!
I hate to say it, but I only have one entry at the moment:( It's VERY EASY to enter and who couldn't use some healthy treats or vitamins in their lives? ENTER HERE!

What are your summer goals? Do you have a hard time with changes in your schedule meaning changes in your healthy lifestyle? What are you struggling with right now?

Juicin'

Hey Peeps!

Happy Tuesday! I finally feel like things are settling down from the hectic month that was March! With NO traveling for the rest of April, things are looking up for my stress-level so far:)

It was a beautiful day in Kansas, maybe getting a little hot actually;) But, alas, tomorrow starts a string of ho-hum weather. I am a HOT weather kind of gal!!!

This morning I started off my day with OATMEAL INSANITY!!!

Ok, I admit, it doesn't look that appetizing! But click on the link above for a low-cal, hearty bowl of oatmeal that will keep you going for hours! It's Yummers!

My morning snack was a new Greek yogurt I found: Oikos.

This one had caramel on the bottom and others have fruit (who would choose fruit over caramel???). I'm still die-hard Chobani, however, this is good in a pinch! It's a bit sweeter than most of the other Greek yogurt I've had, but I have a sweet tooth so I'm not complaining!

It still has all of the health benefits of Greek yogurt and it's definitely filling!

My exciting news is that a got a juice at Nebraska Furniture Mart this weekend! Only $20, so we'll see how long it lasts, but I tried my first concoction of items I had in the fridge:

Morning Red Delicious
3 small apples (I used Jonathon)
1/2 of a lemon (peeled)
1 thumb-size piece of fresh ginger

It was delicious, as expected;) I really have no problem getting in my fruit for the day. I love having grapes, apples, BANANAS, and strawberries as snacks and in smoothies throughout the day. Vegetables are a bit of a chore to get in sometimes unless I have a salad or stir-fry. So here are some combos I'm really looking forward to:

Cabbage/Celery/Apple
Carrots/Apple
Tomato/Jalapeno/Cucumber
Carrots/Pear/Squash
Carrots/Spinach/Celery
Tomato/Cucumber/Carrot

I think adding an apple to all of those vegetable combos will bring a surprising tart and sweet flavor to the vegetables! I'm super stoked about trying these combos and I'm heading to the store TOMORROW for some healthy goodies! I'll let you know how it goes:)

Don't forget my giveaway going on RIGHT NOW through Friday to win a $10 e-card to Swanson Health Products! Just leave a comment HERE!

Do you have a juicer? What is your favorite combination? Have any advice for a first time juicer owner?

Family Wedding Weekend: A Picture Blog

Hello my Bloggy Beauties!!

How did your weekend go? Mine was a blasty of course because I went to a family wedding! My family is a hoot and we always have fun together! Since a picture can say a thousand words, this will be a picture blog of my fun weekend at my cousin Whitney's wedding!

This is my second cousin Blakely really enjoying some chocolate at the rehearsal dinner! She's the cutest!

Whitney and Mike enjoying their first beer as a married couple!

These praying hands were from my grandma's casket. They sat on the alter during the wedding and sat with us during the reception. She was there in spirit and we "cheers'd" her!

These are my parents from the dance floor!

This is exactly how I am when I'm dancing so I thought this was a hilarious picture: So into it, center of attention, don't care what other people are thinking of me-LOVING IT! So funny.....

Me and the bride!

B getting down!

Whitney putting on her wedding dress.

The back of the dress.

Lauren (Whitney's little sister) and me in the bus after the wedding.

That was the gist of my weekend! Now we're back and settling in to normal life again. My next trip will be a girl's weekend with my college pals to one of our friend's wedding in Des Moines in May. It will be nice to chill with the girls!

I hope you all had a great weekend as well! Please remember I'm having a giveaway right now for a $10 e-card to Swanson Health Products! The contest ends this Friday! Don't miss out!

Take your Vitamins Giveaway!

Good Morning!

I'm getting a quick post in before we head off to my cousin's wedding!

Here is Whitney, me and B at her brother's wedding this past summer.

On this post, I'm going to review the rest of the FREE Swanson products that Swanson Health Products sent me about a month ago. If you'd like to read about the first set of reviews and what all Swanson gave me, click here!

Today is all about the vitamins! I've been taking these vitamins for a few weeks now, and even though I think vitamins are hard to judge in that amount of time, I'm going to give you my first impressions of them. Please remember, I'm not a dietician and I'm not advocating taking any vitamins. This is just my opinion!

Formula VM-75 Multivitamin
This vitamin I was most excited to take! This is a general multivitamin, but if you look up reviews for this little guy, people love him! Most notice a jump in mood and energy right away and can noticeably tell when they have run out and don't take it. I've been super stressed and busy lately, but I haven't crashed and I still have plenty of energy at the end of the day for a good workout and to get things done around the house (and blog:). Is it because of these multivitamins? I don't know, but I can tell a difference;)

This little softgel is a calcium and magnesium vitamin with added Vitamin D. Calcium is great for bone and teeth health. Cal/Mag can also aid the help of leg or other cramps. I haven't noticed a big difference since I started taking this-but how can you tell if your bones are stronger? Calcium is just a smart supplement!

I have taken this for a little over a month now. You can take it with every meal if you want, but I usually forget and just take it once a day with my other vitamins. Fish Oil is great for cardiovacular health and joint function. Every time after Zumba, my knees used to ache! I barely notice them anymore! Is it because of fish oil? Maybe! But I'm not gonna stop taking it to find out;)

This is an interesting one! Coenzyme Q10 is naturally found in the body, but as you get older, the body makes less of it. Organs that have the highest energy requirements (heart, liver, kidneys) have the highest Coenzyme Q10. In short, by taking Coenzyme Q10, you can boost energy, enhance the immune system (less sickness!) and acts as an antioxidant. I can feel the energy!

Giveaway Time!!!

Did you like any of the products I reviewed? Are you interested in trying any out for yourself? Don't be shy! Here's your chance to win a $10 e-card to Swanson Health Products!!
Here's how to enter!

1. You must be "following" me by clicking the "Follow" button on the right side of the page.

    March Wrap-Up

    Hey Chickas!

This is my Friday, peeps! I'm heading to Iowa (again!) for my cousin Whitney's wedding tomorrow morning. This one will be a blast! I am her personal attendant and am also reading in the wedding (I told her no big words!). My family is so awesome, so I'm really excited to spend the weekend celebrating Whitney and Mike's marriage!

I was in Wichita yesterday for another convention and whenever my husband or I go to a city, we like to pick up something to eat that we don't usually get in our small town. So tonight, we had SUSHI!

Mine is on the left: I tried sashimi for the first time today, and it was good! Sashimi (from what I know about it) is actual raw fish  on top of an oval ball of rice. Usually what my husband and I have is not actually sushi, but some kind of California roll (avocados, carrots, cucs in rice), so I wanted to be adventerous! I would definitely have that again:)

Because today is the last day of March, I want to do a March recap of the month. Here are some of my love's from the month:

    Allergy Medicine!

This is what I look like every March! I'm a sneezy, itchy nose, watery eye, dreary MESS! I first got allergies when I was in college in Iowa, and every March since, they have come back (darn it!). I've never been able to find a medicine that fends them off actually. My mom swears by the Neti pot-but I'm kind of grossed out by it! I tried Allegra-D for the first time and it's been really helpful! Doesn't zap my symptoms 100%, but pretty dang close! The Neti pot is a last resort for me! (BTW: I think a gravy boat could do the same thing???)

    My Family
Me, my cousin Jen and my dad

My family is extremely important to me, not just my immediate family, but extended! Especially since my grandma died, I think it's doubly important to stay in touch and keep family traditions alive!

My cousin Jen (again!;), my cousin Amy, me (check out that HAIR!) and my mom at a wine tasting

    What I hate from March:
    SPRING SNOW STORMS!
We've had a few of these bad boys in Kansas since Spring started, and I'm not caring for them too much! I'm definitely a warm weather gal, and when Spring starts, I'm itching to get some shorts and tanks on!

What are your likes and dislikes from March? Have you tried a Neti pot? What is your verdict on them?

Desserted Tip of the Day: On Sunday evening, try to plan out your workout schedule for the week. Statistics show that you are more apt to follow it then slack off!

    Tunes for Groovin'!

    Hello Friends!

It's a dreary day in Kansas:( It's been raining and misting all day, and the past few days we've had flurries every night! It's supposed to be March here, Mother Nature! Spring has arrived! Let us enjoy it! *Hmph*

Today I was in a nearby "city" for a seminar and we got done a little early, so I stopped at my favorite health food store and picked up a couple things I've never tried:

    Nutritional Yeast and Liquid Aminos

To be honest with you, I'm not 100% about the health benefits of these. I do know that the yeast, sprinkled on food, tastes like cheese. And the aminos taste like soy sauce with NO sodium! I'll look more into these and try them out and let you know my thoughts;)

I also got a great workout in after I drove home in the rain: my Interval Extreme class!

    Sweaty beast with racoon eyes!

    ****

Today, I'm hoping to freshen up your iTunes or music library with some new workouts tunes! All of these songs I list here are tried and true tunes that I have personally grooved to to get me going! They are all within a few years old. I hope you enjoy!

    Lip Gloss by Lil Mama
If you know me personally at all, then you know I'm addicted to lip gloss! I love the stuff! So it natural that I navigated to this song;) Lil Mama kinda had a one hit wonder with this song, but it was aMAZin'! It's super catchy with a hard clap/drum beat-perfect for jump roping or running!

Crown on the Ground by Sleigh Bells
For about a year now, Sleigh Bells have been the new kids on the alternative music scene. They jumped on the scene at last year's SXSW in Austin, TX and people have been nuts about them ever since! Sleigh Bells is like nothing you've ever heard before-promise! While most songs/bands have a heavy bass line, Sleigh Bells have a heavy treble line-I call it noise pop! I crank this song up (and many of their other songs from their album "Treats") and my heart races and my head bobs-it just has to;)

Solange is Beyonce's little sister for those who don't know! You can definitely tell a similarity in their voices and looks, but Solange's style is kind of old-school motown, which is really hip! Even my husabnd will crank this song up when he hears it and belts it out! It's just a groovy tune! Check out the video by clicking the link above!

    What's My Name by Rihanna
This song is getting overkill on the radio right now, but I can't help it, I love it! I could really go without Drake though. He's kind of a buzz kill in my book, so if you buy this on iTunes, I would recommend buying the verion WITHOUT Drake! Although the versus are a tad slow, the chorus more than makes up for it! For some reason I just want to roll my hips like Rihanna does!

My new obsession right now is Matt & Kim! This song in particular has a heavy tuba line (love that!) and some crazy bells! I'm in love with interesting instruments in pop songs! This song is almost undescribable-you must listen;) Check out the link above for the music video!

Whip My Hair by Willow Smith
Uh, can you say adorable???? As soon as I saw this girl, I was in love! Her style is beyond unique and she actually has a great voice without autotune which is a miracle these days! And if you listen to the words of this song, it has a really positive message about being yourself, and I'd like to think Willow is a huge advocate of being who you are and celebrating that! Here's to strong little ladies;)

Wolf Like Me by TV on the Radio
This song makes me want to jump up down, head shaking, fist pumping and yelling out the lyrics! I love the monotone voice of TV on the Radio, yet, you can still hear his emotion in this song. The drum beat and electric guitar makes you keep going well after you are tired. Unfortunately, there is a small part in the song that gets really slow-a breakdown if you will. Listen to the song, and take it for what it is. If you like it-shout out at me!

Those are my suggestions for freshening up your iPod or MP3 player to get you jacked for your workout! Please let me know what your fav current workout songs are and if you like any of these that I mentioned above. I'd love to hear your input!

    It's a Foodie Day!

    Hello Bloggie Friends!

I hope you had a terrific Sunday! B didn't get home until noon today and then the KU game was on so I got a lot of cleaning done and put away all the garage sale stuff that didn't sell. I also got a great workout in and the laundry is done-so ya for being productive!!!

Since I've been gone a lot lately, I haven't been able to cook much, hence the lack of recipes on my blog! But, I had lots of time today and have some great reviews of other blogger's recipes and some twists of my own:)

This is a recipe from Anne at FANNEtastic Food. She made this gluten free by using spelt flour, but I just used half whole wheat and half all-purpose. I also used pecans instead of walnuts. This was really delicious and easy to make! They aren't too sweet, and have a perfect apple-y and nut crunch to them! I think your whole family will like this recipe!

Next up: LUNCH! This is a tride-and-true meal that I've posted about before.

    Taco Salad

Romaine lettuce, soy meat crumbles with salsa and taco seasoning, yellow cherry tomatoes, fat free shredded cheese, fat free sour cream and Guiltless Gourmet tortilla chips crumbled on top. YUM!

For dinner, I tried out a new recipe from Smitten Kitchen.

I added shrimp to ours to add a little protein in it. This was DYMO-MITE! Very healthy, filling and delicious. Plus it's a light pasta that doesn't make you feel bogged down. This clocked in at around 520 calories according to my Bodybugg (with shrimp).

And last but not least, BANANA ICE CREAM!

This delish lil' bowl has some Peanut Butter & Co Dark Chocolate and mini chocolate chips! So good!

Please click on the links above to find all of the recipes and try them out for yourself! I love finding healthy, yummer recipes to try out!

What did you do on your Sunday? Would you rather spend a lazy Sunday watching movies and relaxing, or spending it cleaning and getting things done around the house?
