Keep'n' That Body Rock'n'!

Good Evening!!

How is everyone doing? Even though I only had two days of work this week, I'm still sooo glad it's Friday! Today got in the high-60's in Kansas so I thought I would take that opportunity and clean my car! I don't think it's been washed all winter-it was time! It's BEautiful now;) I have nothing else planned for the weekend and I couldn't be happier! I can't remember the last time I had NOTHING to do on a weekend;)

I got in a Bodyrock workout today:

Uhhh....yeah...that's what 16 minutes of Bodyrock'n will do to a gal: Sweat dripping down face, soaked shirt, matted hair-SEEXXY!

I also started using my FitBook today which I got for Christmas.

I'm pretty excited about it! And with all things new, it's giving me new vigor to get my goals accomplished! My main goals: Lose one dress size and 15 pounds in 3 months (a few days before my two year anniversary!) I think those are very doable goals. I think I'll also be trying to get in one flexibility workout a week (pilates, yoga). I'm not really a "breath and pose" type of person, but I see the benefits of it and it's worth a try!

The Fitbook has a place to write down all of your workouts. So today I wrote all of my scores for my Bodyrock workout and which when I did, so hopefully in a few weeks, I can go back and try to beat those scores-love that! PS: I'm gonna chill with Weight Watchers points for awhile, so I won't be posting them on here for now-sorry!

I have a couple of new recipes/food ideas for you all to try out also:)

This is a recipe from Biochemista.com. It was good...but not great. It has tons of staying power to keep you full for a few hours, but I might do some tweaking to this. If you tweak it and love it, please let me know;) I love the concept!

Shrimp and Veggie Quinoa
I bought some quinoa a few weeks ago and just haven't given it a go yet, until yesterday! Read more about this power house grain here from Daily Garnish's Emily! It's very similar to rice and really absorbs flavor well! I threw some ingredients that I had laying in the kitchen and it turned out great!

-1 Serving of peeled, deveined, tails off shrimp
-1/2 cup cooked quinoa (follow package directions)
-1/2 cup of diced zucchini
-Soy sauce to taste (about 2 T)
-handful of fresh spinach
-freshly grated parmesan cheese
(Tomatoes would be great! I just didn't have any....)

Saute all ingredients except quinoa. Once soft and cooked through, top quinoa with sauted mixture and top with cheese. DELISH!

I'm new to quinoa. Do you have great recipes/ideas to use quinoa? What is your personal fitness goal right now and how do you plan on accomplishing them?

Happy Anniversary to my friend's Sarah and Brett!!!

  2. I got quinoa at VitaVilla in Salina and you can also get chia seeds there too! I have bought them and it adds a little crunch and some protein. A runner friend said she found an ancient Aztec running drink for stamina with chia. I'll have to ask her about that!
Go to www.bodyrock.tv for those workouts. They will rock your world!

  4. Ohmigawd, am I your "runner friend"? If so, I feel so special to have been called that. If not, please disregard my fawning. ;) I (a friend and runner) also like chia for it's "stamina" and although I can't say I've been religious about them, I do think they're handy for a bit of a crunch. I haven't made the Aztec drink yet, but I sure do need to!

I also love quinoa, I cook it and then chill it with shredded chicken, spices and wilted spinach and eat it as a side salad. I like your recipe, I'm gonna have to try it.

So weird that you said you're gonna chill on the WW stuff for now. My Lent goal was to lay off "points" and focus on clean eating... (which I know is a lifestyle choice and not a 'diet'). I feel like I'm at the point where I know what is "ok" to put in my body and what isn't and maybe I can take 40 days to reflect on that.
    :)
